. Chenin Blanc has been underrated by American wine drinkers who remember lousy jug wines from the 70s. In fact, Chenin Blanc is the basis for some incredible wines like Vouvray, Savennieres, Saumur, and Quarts de Chaume (one of the world’s great sweet whites). Chenin Blanc is fairly neutral, and this allows for expression of the terroir and the winemaker’s skills. Chenin Blanc can be made sweet, dry or sparkling with its underlying acidity always providing a liveliness to the wines. Known as Steen in South Africa, Chenin Blanc is grown all over the world.
